Integra Telecom Bolsters Commitment to Serving Education Customers

Supports Education Customers through Federal E-Rate Program

PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 13, 2012 – Integra Telecom, Inc., a leading provider of fiber-based, carrier-grade networking, communications and technology solutions, demonstrates its commitment to Government & Education Services (GES) providing nearly 300 schools and libraries with Internet and telecom services. Through E-Rate, the Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund (USF) administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC), Integra offers discounted end-to-end connectivity for voice and data networks to K-12 schools, education districts and libraries throughout its footprint.

By offering technology solutions through E-Rate, Integra continues its shift to serving larger, multi-location customers with high-bandwidth, enterprise-grade network and communications services via its fiber and copper-based networks. Organized under the leadership of Trent Anderson, Integra’s vice president of government and education sales, the company has invested in dedicated education sales and support resources with market-specific expertise.

“Integra recognizes the financial challenges facing educational institutions as well as their need for the advanced technology solutions necessary to achieve their goals,” said Anderson. “From video streaming and virtual classrooms to increasingly sophisticated communications and backoffice systems, schools and libraries require a robust and secure network infrastructure to enable their applications. Integra is proud to work with federally funded programs like E-Rate to provide cost-effective and scalable Internet and telecom services to our GES customers.”

Telecommunications, Internet, internal connections and basic maintenance are among Integra’s products and services eligible for E-Rate discounts. Integra’s participation in E-Rate furthers the company’s commitment to offer a range of education solutions that provide schools and libraries with the ability to:

  • Manage fluctuating bandwidth requirements for education applications and data;
  • Maintain network availability in emergencies ensuring student and educator safety;
  • Safeguard network security while enabling personal technology devices;
  • Prepare for next generation distance learning education and technologies; and
  • Maintain network security to protect confidential student information.

“Integra provides superior customer service with extensive knowledge surrounding the E-Rate program,” said Carolyn Coulter, information technology and virtual services officer for Pikes Peak Library District. “Integra’s billing department has saved us time and money. Instead of wrestling with E-Rate forms, we were able devote time to serving our constituents.”
