Sprint Phone Connect for Wholesale Enables MVNOs to Offer a Landline Alternative to Their Home and Business Customers

Users are free to “cut the cord” now that MVNOs can maintain the high-quality features that customers are accustomed to from a landline phone provider, at a lower cost

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), November 13, 2012 – Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings) Global Wholesale & Emerging Solutions today introduces Sprint Phone Connect for Wholesale, a product for Mobile Virtual Network Operators (MVNO) to provide their customers low-cost, high-quality home phone service without the need for a landline or broadband service.

Sprint Phone Connect, a sleek plug-and-play device, enables end users to plug their current office or home landline phone into the Sprint Phone Connect device and calls will be carried on the nationwide Sprint 3G Network. Compatible with most conventional corded and cordless phones, Sprint Phone Connect allows business and consumer end users to replace their landline service and maintain the features they are accustomed to from a landline phone provider.

“More and more, landline customers are cutting the cord and Sprint Phone Connect gives Sprint’s MVNOs a prime opportunity to retain those customers,” said Ben Vos, vice president, Wholesale Operations – Sprint. “MVNOs who offer the Sprint Phone Connect product will be able to create greater stickiness with their customers while also opening up new opportunities for incremental gross adds and revenue.”

Services available with Sprint Phone Connect include voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, three-way calling and call forwarding. The Sprint Phone Connect device has built-in GPS to support 911 calling and battery backup, so the service stays up even when the power goes down.

If the end-user’s cordless phone supports more than one handset, plugging the main base into Sprint Phone Connect will activate all the handsets (digital phones for use with PBX systems may not be compatible). Users have the option of maintaining their existing home or office phone number or activating a new one.

Sprint Wholesale delivers an integrated, innovative, customizable suite of value-added solutions to drive customer revenue, profit and subscriber growth. Visit the newly redesigned www.sprint.com/wholesale to see the full list of products and services available.
