Level 3 Honored with Nemertes PilotHouse Award as Top Provider of Carrier Ethernet Services

Company Achieves Highest Scorecard Rating in a Survey of IT Professionals across All Evaluated Categories, Including Technology, Customer Service and Value

Oct 30, 2012

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Oct. 30, 2012 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) has received the Nemertes PilotHouse Award for Carrier Ethernet Services, scoring highest among a group of eight telecommunications service providers.

The PilotHouse awards are based on the results of personal conversations and a survey of nearly 1,500 IT professionals. Respondents to the research questions rated specific products and services from a variety of service providers based on a five-point scale. The service attributes evaluated include technology, customer service and value.

“Carrier Ethernet has emerged as a more robust and flexible alternative to traditional wide area network (WAN) services. Business users of Carrier Ethernet rated Level 3 a 4.24 out of 5 for customer service, and 4.14 out of 5 for technology. Level 3’s stellar customer rating score moved them to the lead amongst all providers,” said Henry Svendblad, principal analyst, Nemertes Research.

The Nemertes award and ranking for carrier Ethernet services focuses on pure-play carrier Ethernet, or specifically point-to-point Ethernet services, metro Ethernet and virtual private line service (VPLS). For classification purposes, Nemertes segmented providers into two categories: Market Leaders and Market Challengers. Level 3 scored the highest across both categories.

“Being rated higher than any other provider by IT professionals to win the Nemertes PilotHouse Award for Carrier Ethernet Services demonstrates Level 3’s continued commitment to meeting the needs of its customers for highly efficient and secure Ethernet services,” said Greg Spraetz, Level 3’s senior vice president of Wholesale Markets. “We are delighted to accept this award, which underscores our deep commitment to bringing an exceptional level of service to our customers.”
