Shenzhen, China, 17 October, 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced availability of its enhanced Storage System portfolio to support 4TB storage disks. Working in close collaboration with industry partner, Seagate, Huawei’s storage portfolio enhancement provides customers with advanced storage solutions with increased capacity to improve competitiveness.
In today’s age of mass data processing, hard disks play an important role in facilitating storage and retrieval, as well as protection of data and information. Enterprise organizations are particularly concerned about hard disk capacity, power consumption, reliability, and per-GB cost when choosing storage solutions. In addition to supporting 4TB storage disks, Huawei converged SAN and NAS storage protocols in its T Series portfolio to allow for simplified storage architecture, reduced network deployment complexity, and lowered costs in procurement, operation and maintenance (O&M). The enhanced T Series portfolio was developed in partnership with industry-leading hard disk vendor Seagate Technology.
Wes Perdue, Seagate’s Director of PLM Cloud Strategy, said: “Seagate is pleased to strengthen our strategic partnership with Huawei by providing our sixth-generation enterprise-level 3.5-inch disks for Huawei’s innovative storage solutions. This generation of disks provides 4TB per-disk capacity, the largest in the industry, which is ideal for solutions of 24/7 data storage, cloud computing, and data centers. The collaboration between Seagate and Huawei, and the use our latest disks allow Huawei to provide more high-quality storage solutions with superior performance to its customers.”
Fan Ruiqi, President of Huawei’s Storage Product Line, said:”With its large capacity and low power consumption, the 4TB hard disks position Huawei’s innovative Universal Distributed Storage (UDS) system as an ideal EB-level storage solution for enterprise organizations. It provides 300TB storage capacity within a 4U space in a standard IT cabinet, raising the storage density to 75TB/1U and helping customers save initial investment as well as subsequent O&M costs. The advanced distributed architecture and object storage technology also allow the system to be smoothly expanded to 300PB, ensuring its capability to meet enterprises’ evolving storage needs.”
Huawei and Seagate have a long history of strategic partnership in areas including technology development, talent development and customer service. Additionally, Huawei has been dedicated to innovation in the storage field over the past 10 years. Drawing on the decade-long efforts in R&D and the company’s extensive experience in the technology industry, Huawei has established a comprehensive storage portfolio covering disk storage system, network attached system, storage attached network, application storage and cloud storage system. Delivering on its commitment to serving as an optimal partner for enterprises, Huawei collaborates closely with partners to provide more easy and converged storage solutions to customers across industries.
