Overture and GTS CE blaze a path for high-speed Ethernet delivery throughout Central Europe

Prague, September 11, 2012
Award-winning pan-European operator and Carrier Ethernet market leader unite to roll out Carrier Ethernet services across five countries simultaneously / Overture, the preferred Carrier Ethernet edge and aggregation partner for service providers and network operators worldwide, today announced it has partnered with leading integrated telecommunications services provider GTS CE to bring high-speed Carrier Ethernet service to both retail and wholesale customers across Central and Eastern Europe. GTS’ services were launched simultaneously in five countries, including the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania and Poland.

“At GTS, service delivery to our customer must be seamless in every aspect; they want to know that their service will work the same no matter location or connection type. Configuring our network for uniform service delivery in multiple markets, across an array of access technologies required finding a partner able to provide the best solution at the right cost,” said Ignacio Irurita, CTO, GTS. “The decision to go with Overture has been a very good one; the quality of the product in the field has been excellent – it’s very reliable. We’re provisioning faster, which translates into our being able to present new service offerings more quickly. As a result, our customer numbers are growing significantly day by day.”

Overture’s flexible, scalable Carrier Ethernet over Copper (EoC) platforms have been deployed at approximately 130 Central Offices (COs) in Central and Eastern Europe for service delivery in the first mile to some 40,000 retail customers. Beginning with its Tier 1 customers, GTS rolled out services ranging up to 10GbE concurrently throughout its expanding network footprint. The company also supplies wholesale customers with Ethernet services via External Network-Network interfaces (E-NNIs) and interconnections with operators in Frankfort and Vienna, with termination points in key metropolitan areas.

In 2011, GTS was the first Central and Eastern European operator to achieve Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 9 and 14 certifications, raising the Quality of Service (QoS) bar in both its internal and customer-facing operations. The company’s efforts to upgrade and improve its Carrier Ethernet network infrastructures have fueled its continued success, including numerous awards and recognitions, including the MEF’s prestigious Regional Service Provider of the Year award.

“GTS has made it a priority to embrace technology innovation in order to provide its customers with best-in-class high-speed network connectivity, firmly establishing itself as Central and Eastern Europe’s premier high-speed, carrier-class service provider,” said Jeff Reedy, CEO, Overture“We’re very pleased to be working with a vibrant, forward-looking organization like GTS and hope to extend this very productive partnership far into the future.”
