Integra Telecom Diversifies Business Solutions with VPN Wireless Backup Featuring Verizon Network

Secure, Reliable Wireless Network Alternative Assures Business Continuity

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 26, 2012 – Integra Telecom Inc., a leading provider of fiber-based, business-grade networking, communications and technology solutions, is expanding its business continuity and disaster recovery solutions portfolio with VPN Wireless Backup to customers nationwide. This new combination signals the aggressive expansion of Integra’s strategic, high technology product portfolio, which provides solutions to enterprise business needs. With Integra’s Wireless Backup, customers of all sizes can protect against network disruptions while also ensuring continuity of services through immediate and seamless failover to the Verizon Wireless network.

Wireless Backup bolsters wireline access methods including T1, bonded copper and fiber, providing a fully functional network alternative that dramatically exceeds the capabilities of traditional backup options, while offering a cost-efficient alternative to maintaining diverse wireline network paths. The service uses customer premise equipment (CPE) to automatically switch traffic from the wireline network to the nation’s most reliable wireless network connection in the event of a network disruption.

“Maintaining network connectivity is paramount for businesses,” said Joe Harding, senior vice president of marketing at Integra. “Customers such as retail businesses, multi-location enterprises and healthcare organizations depend on our network for the continuity of their business-critical applications. With our VPN Wireless Backup, Integra customers have a more complete range of reliable options to keep their businesses connected and secure.”

Additional customer benefits of Integra’s Wireless Backup include:

  • Security using IPsec, allowing network data to pass through a wireless connection while remaining securely encrypted;
  • Customers using Integra’s Cloud Firewall Service as part of an Integra VPN Solutions service are supported over Wireless Backup, providing additional security from malware threats; and
  • Access Control Lists, offering customers the ability to prioritize network traffic and ensuring wireless network bandwidth is leveraged for the applications most critical to their business needs.

“Integra customers can now employ the world-class Verizon Wireless network as an attractive alternative to wired corporate network connections,” said Bobby Morrison, regional president for Verizon Wireless. “The Verizon Wireless network is an ideal flexible back-up platform that can be quickly and cost-effectively employed to handle critical business applications.”

Wireless Backup is now available nationwide for new Integra VPN customers. More information on Integra’s VPN solution, featuring Verizon Wireless may be found on Integra’s website here.
