Ericsson Expands LTE Device Offering in North America through BandRich Agreement

  • BandRich LTE data products exclusively available to Ericsson customers in North America
  • Agreement covers mobile broadband routers, dongles, personal hotspots and outdoor CPEs
  • Partnership to allow access to more LTE devices and bands for Ericsson’s North American operators

Ericsson (NASDAQ:ERIC, news, filings) today announced that it has become the exclusive distributor of BandRich LTE data devices in North America to Ericsson’s operator customers.  The agreement covers all BandRich products, including mobile broadband routers, dongles, personal hotspots and outdoor CPEs.

The new personal router offers a range of LTE band combinations in an innovative design style, as well as leading battery performance with more than six hours of continuous operation. The outdoor CPE has two high-gain embedded antennas, which allows stronger LTE coverage and performance in rural settings.

The device portfolio from BandRich supports all LTE bands used in North America – 3GPP B2, B4, B12, B13, B17 and B25 with HSPA or EVDO fallback – which will enable carriers to deploy services across different bands.

“LTE has transformed the way we communicate and interact with our mobile devices in a networked society,” said Craig Stein, Head of US Regions, Broadband & Media for Ericsson. “By working with BandRich, we are able to provide our North American operators with more LTE device options to fit their needs and the needs of their customers.”

Ericsson and BandRich are currently finishing device interoperability work through Ericsson’s Remote Device Management (ERDM) that will allow devices to be lifecycle managed by the operator. This will make adding, controlling, upgrading and deleting devices off of the network much easier for operators.  In turn, the solution will provide substantial cost savings for the operator and help improve quality of service to consumers.

The full line of LTE data devices from BandRich will be on display at the Ericsson booth (#517-519) at the Competitive Carriers Association Annual Convention on September 24-26, 2012 in Las Vegas.
