Joint Solution Showcases Benefits of Advanced Secure Media Delivery and Analytics Across a Wide Range of Client Devices
AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS–(Marketwire -09/05/12)-Akamai Technologies, Inc. (AKAM), the leading cloud platform for delivering secure, high-performing user experiences to any device, anywhere, and Verimatrix, the specialist in securing and enhancing revenue for multi-screen digital TV services around the globe, today announced an alliance to integrate Akamai’s Sola Media Solutions’ viewer-enhancing client technologies into components of the award-winning Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS™). The solution combines multi-network revenue security from Verimatrix with Akamai’s delivery acceleration and audience analytics technologies in an effort to enhance value to video service operators.
The two companies are demonstrating the benefits of the joint solution at IBC 2012 (Verimatrix Stand 4.B54), taking place September 7-11, 2012 in Amsterdam.
As viewers increasingly embrace combinations of broadcast and over-the-top (OTT) video services, they expect consistently high quality regardless of the delivery medium. In order to meet their expectations for multi-screen consistency, leading vendors must work together to integrate their technologies for seamless performance and simplicity. By combining Verimatrix VCAS and Akamai Sola Media Solutions, the companies expect to provide vital security, management, delivery and audience analytics to multi-network operators. In addition, the integration of Akamai and Verimatrix technologies is expected to result in an integration of traditional broadcast and Internet delivery to a wide range of client device types.
“By aligning Akamai’s Sola Media Solutions’ capabilities with the Verimatrix VCAS offerings, we intend to add value for our customers by giving them greater visibility of, and control over, the performance of their premium video services,” said Troy Snyder, vice president, business development, Akamai. “Working together with Verimatrix allows our two companies to better address the broader marketplace for multi-network digital TV services. The integration of VCAS stream security with Sola Media Solutions is expected to enable our customers to provide a high quality, and highly secure, viewing experience for their subscribers.”
“As multi-network video services grow in sophistication and scale, operators need more of the advanced tools that Akamai can provide to optimize quality, functionality and the audience experience,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “There are many areas where a cooperative relationship, such as the one between Akamai and Verimatrix, can provide powerful tools to effectively manage the delivery of premium video services.”
