STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Frontier Communications Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) announced today that Robert W. Starr has been appointed Senior Vice President and Treasurer, effective August 27, 2012. Starr will report to Donald R. Shassian, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
“Robert’s 23 years of Treasury experience in financial services, investment and commercial banking make him extremely well-qualified to lead Frontier’s Treasury operation. I look forward to working with him as we continue to strengthen and improve our already robust treasury activities,” said Shassian. Starr will be responsible for all duties of the Corporate Treasury, including cash management, capital markets, pension investments and investor relations.
Most recently, Starr was Global Treasurer at Lazard Frères & Co. LLC, where he improved global cash management and risk management, managed all bank and rating agency relationships, and structured capital market transactions. Prior to this, he was Managing Director and Corporate Treasurer for the Ambac Financial Group, Inc. where be established a formal treasury function as the company transitioned into a major participant in public and structured finance.
Earlier he was First Vice President, Treasury, of Salomon Smith Barney, Inc. and before that, Assistant Vice President, Risk Analysis and Management for the Bank of America.
Starr earned a B.S. in Marketing from the State University of New York, College at Oswego and an MBA in Finance from New York University’s Stern School of Business Administration. His executive education includes the Financial Management Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business and Negotiations at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business.
