Ross Named President of Tel West

U.S. TelePacific Corp., a communications and network services company doing business as TelePacific Communications, has named Philip Ross to become President of Tel West Network Services Corporation, a wholly owned TelePacific subsidiary that operates a fiber network serving six metropolitan markets and nearly 4,000 businesses in Texas. Ross will succeed former President Jeff Swickard as part of a planned transition stemming from TelePacific’s acquisition of Tel West last Fall.

Ross has a long professional history in the telecommunications industry and a lengthy tenure with AT&T in various leadership capacities and executive roles including Vice President of Enterprise Sales where he was responsible for the six-state mid-west region supporting large business customers and $1 billion in annual revenue. For the past year, Ross has worked with TelePacific in a consultative role, applying his deep experience in sales, customer care and provisioning.

As president of Tel West and the head of Texas operations, Ross will be charged with directly managing the sales growth in the Texas market, establishing relationships within the community and coordinating all operational business functions within the larger TelePacific organization.

“Philip is an exceptional leader with extensive industry experience and a proven ability to drive growth and increase market share,” says Dick Jalkut, President and Chief Executive Officer of TelePacific. “We are pleased to have him as a champion alongside other department leaders who will be instrumental in the growth of our Texas operations.”

Ross recognizes Tel West’s tremendous achievements under Swickard’s leadership and intends to build upon his success. “Over the past few years I believe that Jeff and his team have organically grown Tel West faster than any other CLEC in Texas,” says Ross. “That is quite an accomplishment, especially in these challenging economic times. I’m looking forward to building on their momentum and leveraging the assets of the larger combined organization to realize the tremendous benefits for all of our customers and employees.”

Swickard, who will leave Tel West this Fall to pursue other interests, is optimistic about the company’s future as part of TelePacific. “I’ve enjoyed working with an incredibly talented and great group of people at Tel West and appreciated the opportunity to serve our loyal customers,” he says. “I leave knowing that there is a very bright future for Tel West employees and customers. Dick Jalkut, Philip Ross and the other company leaders will continue building on our excellent track record to provide a rewarding experience for Tel West employees and customers.”

Over the next 90 days Ross and Swickard will work together to ensure a smooth transition. Ross will report directly to Ken Bisnoff, Senior Vice President of TelePacific.
