Interoute’s partnership with HP recognised by the Global Telecoms Business innovation awards
London, 3 July 2012 – Interoute, owner operator of Europe’s largest cloud services platform, announced today that it has received the Global Telecoms Business ‘Cloud Computing Innovation’ award for its Virtual Data Centre (VDC), launched in January 2012. VDC is the first enterprise cloud computing solution that exists in both a private and public environment, offering a controlled way to store your data where you choose, ensuring European compliance. Interoute shared the award with partner HP who provides essential compute capability for the cloud service.
The ceremony was held on 12 June 2012 and the award, won in partnership with HP’s CloudAgile program, recognises the success of Interoute’s thriving cloud business. Enterprises are using the VDC service to create highly dynamic cloud computing services that are sensitive to the complex demands of European business. Interoute’s VDC, based on HP Converged Infrastructure, is built into the fabric of its pan-European network, enabling organisations to deploy virtual computing and storage infrastructure for their enterprise applications in a matter of minutes.
Alan Burkitt-Gray, editor of Global Telecoms Business, said: “This is a ground-breaking development that allows Interoute to offer new services to its customers. They can benefit from external private clouds and data centres and reduce their network costs.”
Matthew Finnie, CTO at Interoute commented: “Interoute’s Virtual Data Centre provide the market with a solution that brings the simplicity, self-service and flexibility of the public cloud to organisations that demand the security and performance of the private cloud. Partnering with HP has helped us deliver this innovative service across Europe. VDC has been developed specifically as an enterprise quality solution and is helping define a new class in cloud computing.”
