Frontier Communications Announces Expansion of Rural Broadband Services Through The Connect America Fund

STAMFORD, Conn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Celebrating its broadband expansion efforts viaThe Connect America Fund,Frontier Communications(NYSE:FTR, news, filings) today hosted ribbon-cutting events in three rural properties inAlpine County, CaliforniaandTopaz LakeandDouglas County, Nevada.Julius Genachowski, Chairman of theFederal Communications Commission(FCC), joinedMaggie Wilderotter, Chairman and CEO ofFrontier Communications, other Frontier representatives, tribal officials, and business and community leaders to announce the availability of broadband in areas previously unserved.

Celebratory events took place throughout the day as Mrs. Wilderotter and Chairman Genachowski traveled to meet with customers and community members in three locations:

Alpine County, California

Alpine Countyis a 100% rural county, where Frontier serves the communities ofMarkleeville, Paynesville, Fredericksburg,Woodfordsand theWoodfords Communitytribal area. Recently Frontier extended broadband service with speeds up to 6 Mbps over a 44 square mile area to 623 households.

Topaz Lodge, Gardnerville, Nevada

The Connect America Fund(CAF) created byFCCreforms will help Frontier provide broadband access to 423 households that are currently unserved.

Douglas County, Nevada

Frontier’s service area covers approximately 729 square miles inDouglas County. The company is in the process of extending broadband coverage to more than 5,700 county households.
