AT&T’s senior vice president-Talent Development and chief diversity officer Debbie Storey will discuss how diversity and inclusion fuel AT&T’s innovation during a panel sponsored by the Center of American Progress.  The panel, Diversity Is Good for the Bottom Line,” will take place in Washington, D.C. this Thursday, July 12 at 9:00 a.m. CT and will stream live online here.

The Center for American Progress is an independent nonpartisan educational institute dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action and its project Progress 2050 seeks to promote new ideas for an increasingly diverse America. “We are pleased that AT&T will be joining us discuss achieving financial success through a demonstrated commitment to diversity,” said Vanessa Cárdenas, Director of Progress 2050. “Given our country’s demographic shifts, their leadership on this issue is key to inspiring more businesses to think about diversity as a core business strategy that will pay dividends in recruiting and retaining the best and brightest employees.”

“Having a broad range of perspectives and points of view is key to innovation,” Storey said.  “AT&T weaves diversity and inclusion into every facet of its business because when we have more diverse backgrounds around an idea, we get more innovative solutions.”

AT&T’s diverse and inclusive practices have been widely recognized.   For the past four years it has ranked among the top five companies in the  Diversity Inc Top 50 Companies for Diversity® list, where it placed No. 4 overall and No. 3 for Blacks in 2012. In 2011 AT&T received the highest rating for all telecommunication firms on the 2011 Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility’s Corporate Inclusion Index (HACR CII).  In that same year, AT&T was named the #1 company for diversity by Hispanic Business magazine.
