Leveraging BroadWorks, AFIP will transition thousands of end-users to enterprise-wide, all-IP network
GAITHERSBURG, MD, July 12, 2012 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:BSFT, news, filings) today announced that the Administración Federal de Ingresos Públicos (AFIP), Argentina’s national tax agency, has selected the BroadWorks® voice application platform for the deployment of an agency-wide, all-IP communications network that will encompass 500 locations and 18,000 end-users. BroadSoft® worked with Trans Industrias Electronicas S.A (Trans), a leader in the implementation of complex voice, data and image communication systems for corporate, government and service provider organizations, to provide this solution to AFIP.
As a national agency with hundreds of locations and thousands of users spread throughout Argentina, AFIP is developing its network based on the BroadWorks platform which enables the agency to control 500 connection points from a single location.
“To fully benefit from the productivity and cost savings of transitioning to an all IP network, AFIP required a platform flexible enough to connect users in multiple locations and to integrate legacy premises-based equipment and IP-PBXs from other vendors,” said Horacio Franco, IT director, AFIP. “By leveraging the BroadWorks voice application platform, we believe we will be able to successfully deploy the first centralized IP voice solution within the public sector that can scale to meet current and future agency needs.”
The BroadWorks voice application platform will provide AFIP with several key benefits including:
- Interoperability – A key differentiator of BroadWorks is that the platform interoperates with a broad range of communications hardware and software, providing AFIP with tremendous flexibility to integrate market-leading technologies as needed.
- Quick Migration – BroadWorks enables the quick migration of existing AFIP users on legacy systems, and simplifies the addition of new users to the network.
- Superior Value – The hosted offering includes automatic software updates and requires little ongoing support and maintenance, while enabling AFIP to eliminate legacy PBX equipment costs spread across the agency.
- Scalability – BroadWorks has been validated to simultaneously support tens of millions of subscribers, which is important to AFIP as it anticipates delivering communications services to additional government agencies.
“We applaud AFIP for its innovative approach to leveraging hosted voice and communications services. This solution can deliver operational efficiencies as well as a wide range of innovative Unified Communications capabilities to end-users,” adds Leslie Ferry, vice president marketing, BroadSoft.
