LOUISVILLE, Colo. – June 14, 2012 – Zayo Group announces an agreement with Peak 10 to be the Bandwidth Infrastructure provider between their two Charlotte, NC data centers. The deal will connect the new 60,000 square foot University Research Park data center to the existing campus in southwest Charlotte.
Due to growing demands of Charlotte based enterprises to securely store data off site, Peak 10 has expanded to the new campus. The combination of the two campuses will nearly triple Peak 10’s current data center footprint.
Zayo’s Managed Fiber solution is where Zayo will build, manage and operate a fully redundant Wavelength system until Peak 10 is ready to take control of the equipment and dark fiber. This solution enables the customer to have a scalable network as soon as the new data center is complete, and then assume operational ownership at their discretion. With Peak 10’s rapidly growing bandwidth demand, an immediate network was required as well as long term ownership economics to expand at a self-determined rate.
“Utilizing Zayo’s Managed Fiber made sense from a scale and economics perspective,” said Ronnie Frames, Vice President of Network and Cloud Infrastructure for Peak 10. “It allows us to quickly create a wave-based network that is secure, redundant and expandable, with the backing of additional expert support to increase our operations skill set in optical networking.”
“The solution provides the ownership economics Peak 10 was looking for while utilizing our operational expertise during the early stages of operation” states Matt Erickson, President for Zayo Fiber Solutions.
