TeliaSonera International Carrier Recognized as World’s Best Global Optical Service Provider

At the 14th WDM and Optical networking Conference last night, TeliaSonera International Carrier won the Best Next Generation Global Optical Network Service Provider 2012 Award. The ceremony, held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, was a celebration of the achievements by both equipment and service providers in the optical networking industry.

The prize was collected by TeliaSonera International Carrier’s Head of Global Core Network Planning Dariusz Solowiej,” TeliaSonera International Carrier is proud to become the first ever recipient of the Best Next Generation Global Optical Service Provider Award in recognition of the quality, excellence and innovation of the overall network”. It also follows the recent TeliaSonera International Carrier achievements in the optical space including providing innovative multi-terabit managed deals for Rostelecom, Russia’s largest international player and Facebook, the world’s largest social network.

Mattias Fridström, VP and Head of Technology added “These awards are a mark of quality, innovation and leadership. It’s fantastic to be acknowledged as the number one optical network provider. It’s important to remember that this is recognition for global work. We might be European based but we were able to beat of stiff competition because we truly are international. In fact, we are the only European provider with significant optical infrastructure in North America”.

TeliaSonera International Carrier is the international telecommunications arm of one of the largest operator, providing services to 1,000 operators, carriers, application & content providers and others; with a global DWDM core – and the metro networks – that are all 100G-enabled.

The award was sponsored by Cisco and presented by industry analysts Ovum.
