Quito, Ecuador, June 4, 2012 – Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced it has renewed its existing agreement and has entered into a new five-year services provisioning agreement with Grupo Salud S.A., a prepaid healthcare company, to deliver telecommunications services, security infrastructure and technical support that will allow the company’s more than 1,000 doctors to share patient information – quickly, securely and reliably – anywhere in Ecuador, including its new offices in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil.

Grupo Salud S.A. has medical offices throughout Ecuador and expansion plans in other countries in Latin America. It offers 24-hour care for thousands of patients. Level 3 now will provide data center and IP telephony managed services, as well as continuing to provide Internet and hosting services.

“Working with Level 3 has helped enable our continuing growth in each city we serve across Ecuador, and is key to our expansion to other countries in the region. Level 3 has enabled us to achieve better operating costs because of the technologically efficient solutions they provide for us, and that creates savings for our clients,” said Felipe Dueñas, systems manager for Grupo Salud S.A. “Level 3 has provided us with a sophisticated and secure solution to manage and protect all of our sensitive patient and research information in a secure data center that meets the most demanding international standards. This level of security is critical for our business, and for our clients.”

“Grupo Salud S.A.’s culture demands that patients be seen immediately, and with so many offices throughout Ecuador, its information technology must function efficiently and without interruptions,” said Francisco Guzman, Level 3’s senior vice president of Sales in Ecuador. “Our solution was custom-designed to allow Grupo Salud S.A. to maintain its focus on its business; have the flexibility for growth to enable its expansion plans in Ecuador and elsewhere; and to improve its process completion times and services in a very competitive segment.
