Colt, Europe’s leading information delivery platform, has won the Data Centre 2012 Awards for its Modular Data Centre Solution. The award win recognises Colt’s innovative leadership and revolutionary approach to building data centres which redefines the method of construction and delivery of large, energy efficient data centres.
“We are extremely proud of this award win which recognises our commitment to improving the modular design approach and enabling our customers to build data centres that better align to their business demands,” said Bernard Geoghegan, Executive Vice President, Colt Data Centre Services. “Our modular approach gives control back to customers, allowing them to build out their data centres incrementally while reducing the risks associated with having to forecast for future capacity needs way in advance.”
Now in its 5th year, these prestigious awards are recognised as the premier industry accolade across Europe and are judged by experts from the UK, Netherlands, France, and Germany.
“This year’s modular data solution winner had to demonstrate innovation, leading edge technology and real commercial benefits for customers,” said Steve Wallage, Managing Director, Broadgroup. “Colt’s approach delivered against every one of these criteria providing businesses with unparalleled planning, budget, build, operational and energy efficiencies.”
In 2011 Colt’s modular data centre was deployed in Verne Global’s new facility in Iceland, demonstrating that the modular build can be delivered almost anywhere in the world. Verne Global’s data centre facility has been nominated for two Data Centre Awards including: European Award for New Data Centre Facility and European Award for Energy Efficiency in Data Centres.
Colt’s modular data centres are manufactured in approved facilities in the UK using modern production line techniques to provide high quality and high specification data centre halls. They are available to be deployed at a customer site or a Colt carrier neutral facility. The design includes complete flexibility so the customer can match their business needs, including options in power density (up to 3000W p/m2 or as low as 750 W p/m2) and the data centre modules can be double-stacked to make the most of the space customers have available. They can be clad to make it weather proof, negating the need for a shell building and can be delivered almost anywhere in the world in under 16 weeks.
