CARY, NC June 13, 2012 – Bandwidth, one of the Triangle’s fastest-growing technology companies, today announced it will move its corporate headquarters from Cary to Raleigh to occupy the former Red Hat office space at Centennial Campus.
Bandwidth has entered into a four-year sublease agreement with Red Hat for Venture III on Centennial Campus in Raleigh. The company will move in two phases scheduled for September and October this year.
“We’re pumped to move into the Red Hat space in Raleigh,” said David Morken, CEO of Bandwidth. “The new space is a great reflection of our innovative and unique people-centric culture at Bandwidth. We share a lot of similarities with Red Hat – they transformed the software market and we’re transforming communications – powering innovative brands that are changing the way we live, work and play like Google Voice, Skype, Pinger, Vonage, Living Social and our very own republic wireless.”
The announcement follows a banner year for the profitable 13-year old company. Bandwidth added more than 100 employees in the past year, bringing the total to 300. Late last year, the company was in the national spotlight with its launch of republic wireless, the nation’s first wifi-centric mobile phone with a $19 unlimited voice, text and data plan.
“We’re at 300 employees today and plan to add an additional 200 in the next two to three years,” Morken added. “We’ve got employees in ten cities in the US and we’re proud to have the Triangle as our headquarters location. We intend to continue to invest in hiring talent from this market, with a particular emphasis on engineering roles, which makes our partnership with Centennial Campus and NC State such a strong strategic fit.”
“I am thrilled to welcome Bandwidth and its 300 talented employees to Raleigh and Centennial Campus,” said Raleigh Mayor Nancy McFarlane. “We’ve worked hard to become a City of Innovation, and the Bandwidth news — combined with recent developments at Red Hat and Citrix — makes it clear that we’re on the right track. Bandwidth — like Raleigh — is fast becoming a world leader. We are a good fit, and we are proud to be Bandwidth’s new home.”
“NCSU is proud to welcome Bandwidth and its growing base of 300 employees to Centennial Campus,” said North Carolina State University Chancellor Randy Woodson. “Innovation and jobs are among our highest priorities, and Bandwidth’s ability to turn bold new ideas into successful products has made it a global leader. This is exactly the kind of company that NCSU’s leadership designed Centennial Campus to host and help foster by providing creative collisions with expert faculty, talented students, and cutting edge partner companies.”
The company plans to hire 200 new employees over the next three years. Current open positions include Android Developers, iOS Developers, Software Engineers, Software Architects, QA, Director of Software Development, Front End Developers, NOC Technicians, Network Engineers, Systems Admin, Product Management, Sales, Account Support, Customer Support, Social Media, Brand Manager, Business Analyst, Accountants and more.
