NetVanta 160/161 are the first NetVanta products integrated with Bluesocket technology
HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jun. 13, 2012– ADTRAN®, Inc., (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of cloud connectivity, virtual mobility and enterprise communications solutions, today announced the availability of the NetVanta 160 and 161 wireless access points (AP). Capable of supporting dual 802.11n radios up to 600 Mbps, the NetVanta® 160/161 APs are the first NetVanta products to be integrated with Bluesocket technology. This allows small to medium enterprises (SME) to deliver a converged wired and wireless network solution from a single ADTRAN operating system (AOS) based device while simplifying network management and providing a scalability path moving forward as their networks grow.
With the inclusion of select Bluesocket software, the NetVanta 160/161 APs extend the technology capabilities of both product families into a single solution. Businesses deploying an ADTRAN NetVanta or Total Access based network today can easily add wireless capabilities with the NetVanta 160/161 by leveraging the included WLAN controller feature resident in the AOS. As the business grows, requirements change or more granular control is needed as employees bring their own devices into the workplace environment, network administrators have the option of upgrading the NetVanta 160/161 to the complete Bluesocket architecture to better scale wireless access for the employees.
“With the unprecedented growth of wireless devices in the enterprise today, issues of network scale, performance and service priority are becoming critical, regardless of network size,” said Matthias Machowinski, Directing Analyst of Enterprise Networking at Infonetics. “ADTRAN’s newly expanded portfolio of integrated wired and wireless networking products provides enterprise IT managers with a seamless and scalable solution that addresses this need, and has the added benefit of a single management point.”
“SMEs are faced with growing demands on their network infrastructure and the ability to simplify management while reaching a broader number of users is a tremendous asset,” said Todd Lattanzi, senior product manager for ADTRAN’s Enterprise Network division. “The feature set of the NetVanta 160/161 WAPs enables our customers to successfully address this challenge today, provide an upgrade path in the future and continues ADTRAN’s vision of a converged wired and wireless network.”
