Zayo Extends Its Fiber Network Into Louisville, KY

Build Provides Both Long Haul Access Into Several Indiana Markets and Metro Connectivity in Louisville, KY

LOUISVILLE, CO–(Marketwire – May 3, 2012) – Zayo Group announces it will expand its fiber network throughoutsouthern Indiana and into metro Louisville, Kentucky. The build is Zayo’s entrance into the Louisville market adding 60 new route miles and six buildings on-net. With these additional route miles, Zayo’s fiber network in the region totals more than 700 miles.

“The initial build into the Louisville market will provide the underlying infrastructure for wireless services,” states Steve Williams, General Manager of Zayo’s Central Region, “but the core ring through Louisville and out to Jeffersontown will allow for metro connectivity within the city as well as access to Evansville, Indianapolis and Chicago.”

This 60-mile metro Louisville fiber ring will connect Zayo’s long haul network in Louisville to suburban towns including Jeffersontown, Middletown, Sycamore and Rolling Hills in Kentucky and across the Ohio River into Jeffersonville and New Albany in Indiana. Zayo will provide Dark FiberEthernet and Wavelengths services to the area. The build is scheduled to be complete by end of third quarter 2012.

The larger Southern Indiana fiber extends from Louisville to Evansville and north to Terre Haute. Beyond connectivity into Evansville and other smaller markets like Huntingburg and Jasper, the long haul fiber will provide diverse connectivity out of Louisville to Indianapolis and Chicago.
