TeliaSonera International Carrier unveils The Quilt as its latest US Academic Network Partnership

TeliaSonera International Carrier today announced a renewed multi-year contract with The Quilt, the coalition that represents the United States’ most highly respected research institutions and education network organisations.

This recent contract continues the successful partnership between the two companies with TeliaSonera International Carrier providing the IPv4 and IPv6 performance, scale, and flexibility demanded by the Quilt infrastructure providers for their IP Transit services.

Quilt members are non-profit regional network aggregators that provide advanced network services in support of research and education. The Quilt – primarily funded by its participants - uses the collective strength of its membership to source services from approved vendors like TeliaSonera International Carrier.

Jen Leasure, President of The Quilt said “Over the last eighteen months TeliaSonera International Carrier has provided our members with the scale and reliability required. They have brought a strong base of global academic networks within a single hop of our 29 members and the institutions each serve. Their network and service has exceeded all of our expectations, so extending the partnership was a natural decision.”

Ivo Pascucci, Regional Sales Director Americas, TeliaSonera International Carrier Inc, said “The Quilt participants have a reputation for combining leading-edge experiences and influencing the US information technology infrastructure agenda. We appreciate The Quilts continued trust in us which further reinforces the value our AS1299 has in the US market.”
