Govt. Affiliate Selects NTT Com as 1st Partner for Enhanced Global Connections
TOKYO, JAPAN – NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) announced today that it reached an agreement on May 19 with Brunei International Gateway (BIG), a joint venture of government and telecommunications companies in Brunei, to collaborate in providing local Internet service providers (ISPs) with IPv4/IPv6 dual stack global access via NTT Com’s Tier-1 global IP network.
Direct connections to NTT Com’s Tier-1 network will be provided via BIG’s local infrastructure. The result will give ISPs highly reliable global infrastructure for providing customers with high-performance, low-latency, cost-effective global access with IPv6 capability.
BIG builds and operates communication infrastructure for connections to global telecom carriers. NTT Com was selected as its first partner to establish an International Internet Gateway (IIG) for ISPs in Brunei and nearby regions of neighboring countries. Several local ISPs already connect separately to global ISPs, but the IIG will unify connections for greater efficiency.
The partnership expands NTT Com’s global Internet service in Southeast Asia, following similar partnerships formed in Vietnam last year and in Laos this past February. NTT Com looks forward to continue strengthening Internet access and ICT environments throughout Asia in cooperation with government agencies and other entities.
