“Our co-location facilities have become a tremendous asset to the business community in the Twin City area,” said Steve Hatcher, vice president and general manager for tw telecom in Minneapolis.  “Our customers use the facility for a range of applications, from Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, to hosting their Internet presence, to augmenting and sometimes replacing their existing data center assets.”

“Virtual Radiologic is the largest radiology practice in the U.S. serving more than 2,700 hospitals with our 435 radiologists,” said Rick Jennings, CTO at Virtual Radiologic.  ” Every 24 hours, more than 20,000 radiological procedures are sent to, and processed by our proprietary platform running in the tw telecom Minnetonka co-location facility.  Speed matters in medicine, and most radiology exams are completed in less than 20 minutes with stroke and other emergency cases often completed in 5-6 minutes.   We essentially bring highly-specialized medical care to the patient using state-of-the-art technologies and telemedicine.

“Our company is fast growing and requires significant high speed and secure Internet bandwidth to service hospitals across the U.S.  During the moment of care for patients, tw telecom has always been capable of meeting our needs, and we are proud to have been one of the early customers in this data center.”

“When Be The Match needed new data center space in 2008, we selected tw telecom because they provide an efficient, cost-effective and physically secure site for our confidential data,” said Carol Schmidt, director, technology infrastructure at Be The Match. “Housing our data center with tw telecom has given us the confidence that our donor registry will be continuously available to transplant physicians who search our registry to find life-saving matches for their patients.”

Another major medical customer of the tw telecom co-location data center is Fairview Health Services. Based in Minneapolis, Fairview Health Services is a non-profit healthcare system providing exceptional clinical care ranging from prevention of illness and injury to care for the most complex medical conditions. Fairview’s continuum includes 40+ primary care clinics, a wide range of specialty services, home care and senior services. Room & Board, another major tw telecom co-location customer, is a Minneapolis based retailer offering modern American-made furniture and accessories with 11 stores and distribution centers across the U.S.  “With the choice to buy or build for our data center needs, we determined it made sense to go with tw telecom,” said Linda Solheid, director of IT for Room & Board.  “During the sales and set up process everything went according to plan. tw telecom and their employees have been reliable and we have a valued business relationship.  tw telecom is responsive to our inquiries and telecom needs.”
