Sprint Honors National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

Joins Kansas City Royals in hosting “Focus on Driving Night” at Kauffman Stadium

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), April 19, 2012 – In honor of National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings), is reminding wireless consumers to focus on driving while behind the wheel, to not text or email while driving, and to encourage others to avoid distracted driving.

Sprint is partnering with the Kansas City Royals on the evening of Friday, April 20, at Kauffman Stadium for a Focus on Driving Night. Games attendees will have the opportunity to sign the Sprint Focus on Driving consumer pledge, and to receive a Sprint Focus on Driving thumb band as a reminder of their commitment.

In addition to the Sprint Focus on Driving consumer pledge, Sprint customers can access the Sprint Drive First mobile application, a set of distracted driving tips and use the Sprint Zone feature on their mobile phones to instantly obtain distracted driving information on-the-go.

Sprint also works with companies that use device-to-device communications to reduce distracted driving. DriveCam offers a driving safety program based on a video event recorder wirelessly enabled by Sprint. When g-forces indicate distracted driving, it sends a video to DriveCam for evaluation by professional safety analysts and for fleet managers or parents of teens to use in coaching their driver. American Family Insurance makes it available as its Teen Safe Driver ProgramSM at no charge for its customers.

More information on Sprint’s distracted driving efforts can be found at sprint.com/focusondriving. At this site visitors can access a database of useful distracted-driving mobile applications, and find other helpful resources on responsible driving behavior.
