Hurricane Electric Expands Global Network with New Point-of-Presence in Vancouver with Cologix

Hurricane Electric will leverage Cologix’s Harbour Centre data center to offer global IP solutions to Canadian customers

Denver, Colorado – April 10, 2012 – Cologix™, a network neutral interconnection and colocation company, announced today that Hurricane Electric, the world’s largest IPv6-native Internet backbone, has established a point-of-presence (PoP) at Cologix’s facility in the Harbour Centre at 555 West Hastings Street in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The new PoP will enable Hurricane Electric to expand its global network and easily access a broad set of customers in Vancouver and throughout Canada.

The Vancouver PoP will allow customers of Cologix to exchange IP traffic and “peer” directly with Hurricane Electric’s global Internet backbone.  The new PoP will expand access to next-generation Internet and IPv6 systems and services through 100BaseT, GigE (1 gigabit Ethernet) and 10GE (10 gigabit Ethernet) network connections.

“We are pleased that Hurricane Electric has chosen to leverage Cologix in the expansion of their global IPv6 backbone in Vancouver and we are excited about the benefits our customers will enjoy,” stated Todd Coleman, Chief Operating Officer, Cologix.  “We look forward to offering our customers access to Hurricane Electric’s vast global network.”

“This new PoP in Vancouver follows our December, 2010 addition of a PoP in 151 Front Street with Cologix in Toronto, Ontario,” said Reid Fishler, Hurricane Electric’s Director of Carrier Services.  “The new Cologix PoP continues Hurricane Electric’s rapid expansion in Canada and improves the reach and appeal of our connectivity service offerings.”
