BOISE, Idaho – CenturyLink, Inc.’s (NYSE:CTL, news, filings) Idaho Pioneers Chapter is hosting the annual Beeping Easter Egg Hunt for visually-impaired youth in the Treasure Valley. The event will be at 1 p.m. April 6 at Garfield Elementary School in Boise.
The hunt features unique eggs that are engineered with electronic circuit boards, batteries and telephone speakers to emit distinctive beeping sounds. The eggs, provided by the Pioneers, were developed specifically for use by visually-impaired children.
This “beeping” technology was originally developed in 1964 by Charlie Fairbanks, a telephone engineer who created the concept for beeping baseballs. The technology was later modified to produce beeping Easter eggs. The CenturyLink Pioneers will sponsor similar events throughout the country this spring.
