Level 3’s Technology to Optimize Grupo Elektra Operations in Mexico and Latin America

MEXICO CITY,March 27, 2012/PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc., (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced it has renewed an agreement, through its locally licensed affiliate in Mexico, with Grupo Elektra, a rapidly growing leader in the financial and specialty retail services market inLatin America. Under the agreement, Level 3 will provide services to help strengthen and improve the security, reliability and efficiency of Grupo Elektra’s communications.

The Level 3 solution connects Grupo Elektra’s headquarters inMexicowith its Banco Azteca branches in Argentina, Brazil , El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Peru. It is helping Grupo Elektra’s customer service improve performance and efficiency by converging voice, data and video over a single network. Through Level 3’s global network, Grupo Elektra can take advantage of scalable capacity to easily accommodate growth; multiple access options for additional flexibility; a wide range of Internet Protocol (IP) communications services; and guaranteed quality of service, as well as enhanced security.
