Interxion Connects Hilversum’s Media Community to their Amsterdam Campus

AMSTERDAM – 20 March 2012 INTERXION HOLDING NV (NYSE:INXN, news), a leading European provider of carrier-neutral colocation data centre services, today announced a new fibre connection between its Amsterdam campus and its Hilversum site, which is home to Technicolor and the Dutch Media Gateway.

Over recent years, there has been a huge increase in the demand for, and availability of, digitised content resulting in an explosive growth in all areas of digital media. It is expected that the demand for digitised content will only grow further in the coming years, with IP traffic in Western Europe expected to grow four-fold from 2010 to 2015 and Internet video traffic estimated to make up 64% of all consumer Internet traffic in 2015 – compared to 31% in 2010. (Cisco VNI June 2011).

This new connection will allow the digital media community to expand into Interxion’s Content Hubs at its Amsterdam Campus whilst still having direct access to their servers in Hilversum, satisfying the increasing demand for high-quality data centre facilities and the need to be physically close to their mission-critical applications.

Interxion’s Content Hub represents the ideal environment for effective aggregation, storage, exchange, management and distribution of premium digital media content. Content owners can obtain direct in-house cross connects to all necessary IP distribution networks for the optimised delivery of their content, including Tier 1 ISPs, Access Network Providers, and Internet Exchanges such as the AMS-IX and CDNs.

“Due to its high network density, Interxion’s data centre is particularly suited to supporting digital media content. Its comprehensive choice of carriers and partnership with the AMS-IX means we can benefit from low latencies, high service quality and bandwidth savings. This, as well as the fact they offer outstanding redundancy and energy efficiency, is why we continue to select them as our data centre partner of choice”, commented Marco Van‘t Slot, Director of Operations at Technicolor.

“This new fibre route further reflects Interxion’s commitment to the Dutch digital community and continues to position Interxion’s facilities as the ideal environment for effective aggregation, storage, exchange together with management and distribution of premium digital media content”, says Michel van den Assem, Managing Director of Interxion Netherlands. “We are proud to be supporting such a thriving and important community”, concluded Michel.
