Huawei Unveils New-Generation Mobile Bearer Network Architecture, LTE-compatible U2Net

[Barcelona, Spain–March 1st 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, unveiled its new-generation mobile bearer network architecture, LTE-compatible ubiquitous ultra-broadband network architecture, or U2Net, at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona. The new architecture provides flexible broadband access to macro and micro base stations, in addition to E2E service delivery and O&M on mobile bearer networks.

“The mobile backhaul network will be integrated with the fixed broadband network to form an E2E bearer network. ” said Mr. Zha Jun, president of the Network Product Line, Huawei. “The LTE-compatible U2Net presents a fresh vision in the mobile bearer field. U2Net is believed to satisfy the future qualifications of IP video and cloud services.”

With the accelerated development of commercial LTE networks, the traffic per base station will rapidly reach the Gbps level. Consequently, backhaul networks will deliver Gbps, or potentially 10Gbps, access to guarantee broadband services such as IP video, and provide a “zero wait” user experience.

Micro base stations are deployed in various situations, such as in cross media scenarios. Backhaul networks need to utilize existing media for access to micro base stations in order to achieve a “zero wait” maintenance through cross-media O&M. U2Net provides flexible broadband access to micro base stations in order to achieve this.

The expectation of efficient mobile internet and IP video services has become part of everyday life for mobile users. As a result, key issues such as E2E maintenance (MPLS), IP security, E2E clock, E2E Ipv6, and multicast need to be addressed. In response to this, the focus of mobile network infrastructure has shifted from backhaul to enhancing the entire mobile bearer network.
