Huawei Conducts World’s First 4×4 MIMO Trial on Commercial LTE Network

[Berlin, Germany, 27 March, 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider announced the successful execution of the world’s first LTE 4×4 MIMO field trial in the network of Deutsche Telekom. This field trial showed download data rates of up to 250Mbps.

Deutsche Telekom is constantly improving its network for the current and the future demands of mobile customers. The LTE network in the frequency band of 1.8 GHz has been launched in Cologne, Germany in June 2011, selecting Huawei SingleRAN LTE as one solution. Deutsche Telekom has tested the LTE 4×4 MIMO technology as a choice to be prepared for the Gigabit Society.

MIMO is an important technology in LTE standard and can improve network performance in terms of coverage, spectral efficiency and throughput. The world’s first LTE 4×4 MIMO field trial utilized Huawei’s SingleRAN LTE solution, demonstrating Huawei’s capability to improve the user experience with respect to achievable download speeds.
