Company recognized for its work in supporting the advancement of women and diversity, employee volunteerism and corporate philanthropy
MANKATO, Minn., March 22, 2012 — HickoryTech Corporation (NASDAQ:HTCO, news, filings) was recently awarded the Distinctive Difference Award, an inaugural award presented by the Greater Mankato YWCA recognizing a business that supports the YWCA mission of eliminating racism and empowering women. HickoryTech was recognized for its work in promoting the advancement and development of women within their organization and the community and supporting employee volunteerism.
HickoryTech will be honored at the YWCA’s Annual Women of Distinction event on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Mankato Civic Center.
“HickoryTech was nominated by several community leaders and selected for this award due to the company’s track record of advancing women, attention to training and development of women and their support of the YWCA’s mission of eliminating racism and empowering women within the community,” said Anne Ganey, executive director of the Mankato YWCA.
HickoryTech makes ongoing efforts to support and promote women, children and minorities in the community and provides leadership and management training to all employees and its leadership team. Approximately 50 percent of the company’s supervisors and managers are women, which is evidence of the ongoing development of women as leaders at HickoryTech.
HickoryTech and its Foundation support numerous community organizations which advocate for women, youth and minorities. HickoryTech employees live and work in the communities they serve.
