DDOS PROTECTION FIRM SELECTS TELX CLOUD CONNECTION CENTER

Black Lotus, Leading DDoS Mitigation Solution Provider, Taps Interconnection Leader’s Los Angeles C³ Cloud Connection Center™ for its Carrier-Neutral Service Provider Ecosystem

New York, NY (March 6, 2012) – Telx® announced today that Black Lotus has leveraged Telx’s C³ Cloud Connection Center™ in Los Angeles, Calif. to strengthen its Distributed Denial of Services (DDoS) protection and mitigation solutions. By tapping into Telx’s carrier-neutral community of telecommunications service providers via the Telx Connect Portfolio, Black Lotus can select its preferred carriers to quickly and effectively trace the source of network traffic that is often the cause of DDoS attacks.

“An effective, immediate response to a DDOS attack on a customer’s web site is dependent on our ability to work with associated network third parties, such as Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and carriers,” said Jeffrey Lyon, President of Black Lotus. “By colocating our IT infrastructure in Telx’s L.A. facility and leveraging its large array of carrier connectivity choices, Black Lotus has the ability to access vital Tier 1 infrastructure information in a carrier-neutral fashion, helping us better serve our customers and mitigating future DDoS attacks.”

DDoS attacks are the leading cause of downed machines, jammed bandwidth and overloaded routers in enterprise networking today. By moving its IT infrastructure to a secure, carrier-dense C³ data center and implementing components of the Telx Connect Portfolio, including EtherConnect and Cross Connect services, Black Lotus can store vast amounts of data and access the industry’s widest array of service providers in a central, carrier-neutral location. Black Lotus can also leverage the CBX Online to purchase fiber or directly connect to any provider in the Los Angeles area.

“Our infrastructure is the backbone of everything we do,” continued Lyon. “Very few organizations have the knowledge and experience we have to perform this level of DDoS mitigation that also supports IPv6. But without the space, power and carrier-neutral connectivity Telx provides, we would not have the ability to perform these services as quickly and cost effectively. Telx colocation gives us the flexibility to scale as our business needs change, while the ecosystem of providers means that we can choose the carriers we want to do business with.”

Telx’s recently expanded Cloud Connection Center at 600 W. 7th Street in downtown Los Angeles is designed to meet customer demand for premium space, power and connectivity. The 18 percent increase in colocation space with high power density gives customers like Black Lotus room to scale, and to quickly establish a Points of Presence (PoP) in one of the most well-connected buildings in Southern California.

“Telx helps organizations like Black Lotus maximize the value of their colocated infrastructure through strategic use of services such as our Connect Portfolio and CBX Online, offered in all 17 of our C³ Cloud Connection Centers,” said Christopher Eldredge, General Manager of Ethernet Exchange and Interconnection Products, Telx. “Our industry-leading community of ISPs, carriers and enterprise network backbones make our facilities the best choice for premier, carrier-neutral connectivity.”
