XL Appoints Huawei as Managed Services Partner

[Jakarta, Indonesia, 24th February, 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, has exclusively been selected by PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL) as partner to manage its telecommunications network.

Huawei will take complete responsibility for the multi-vendor and multi-technology network. The scope of work encompasses end-to-end network management including multi-vendor operations and maintenance, network performance management, field operations, 24/7 network assurance, spare parts management and customer problem management.

Indonesia is one of the largest countries in Asia comprising of over 17,000 islands. With a population of over 240 million people it is the fourth most populous country in the world with some of the densest cities. It is one of the fastest growing markets for mobile communications with over 190 million users. This agreement allows XL to offer better network and service quality to its fast growing over 40 million customers base whilst Huawei manages the network.

Hasnul Suhaimi, President Director, XL said, “This strategic agreement with Huawei allows us to focus on our core business to offer new and innovative services whilst improving the network quality. This will allow us to differentiate ourselves to compete successfully in the market and help us address the future challenges.”

Hasnul added that Huawei was selected as it not only met XL’s requirements for Managed Services but its people transfer process would ensure a seamless staff integration with a promising future and career development. As part of the 7-year agreement, over 1,200 employees will be transferred to Huawei. Furthermore Huawei was able to demonstrate that it had the capability to maintain and improve XL’s existing high quality network.
