MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA, Feb 13, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) –Primus Australia, a part of PTGi (Primus Telecommunications Group, Inc.) (NYSE:PTGI, news, filings) today announced that Transaction Network Services (TNS) has connected to the Primus Metro Fibre over Optical Transport Network (OTN) to support its Australian office network infrastructure.
TNS is a leading provider of fast, reliable and secure transaction-oriented solutions for the world’s leading retails, banks, processors, telcos, and financial markets.
The deal will see TNS using the Primus Australia OTN DWDM* optical service to link its Sydney to Brisbane offices; providing bandwidth connection of 100Mb/s with the flexibility to upgrade to 10Gb/s and beyond in the future.
According to TNS Procurement Manager, John Nisbet, the scalability of Primus Australia’s Metro Fibre was an influencing factor in the company’s decision to adopt OTN.
“The requirements of our employees require a sizeable bandwidth, so our ability to respond to their requirements means scalability is paramount. Primus’ technical and customer support has been helpful in creating an efficient office environment for our employees’ day to day activities.”
Primus Australia CEO Tom Mazerski commented: “TNS is a major global player in communications solutions, so for them to select OTN reinforces the quality of our high performance, ultra-low latency fibre optic services for the Australian market.”
Primus Metro Fibre over OTN, which was announced in October 2011, is designed to deliver state-of-the-art, high capacity data services that are both cost effective and efficient through the redundant ring architecture. The architecture ensures the delivery of ultra-low latency bandwidth built on the shortest routes available, a core competency of OTN.
