Stein Mart, Inc. Selects Level 3’s Smart WAN Solution to Enhance Accessibility and Performance of Business Applications

BROOMFIELD, Colo.,Feb. 28, 2012/PRNewswire/ — Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE:LVLT, news, filings) today announced that fashion retailer Stein Mart, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMRT) will implement Level 3’s Smart WAN Solution to support critical business applications used by the company’s 262 department stores throughout the U.S.

Stein Mart will use Level 3’s Smart WAN Solution to more efficiently and reliably access frequently used business applications, such as revenue reporting, data analytics, and inventory tracking, by connecting its store and data facilities over a single network.

“Delivering a positive experience to Stein Mart customers depends on how successfully we can execute on important functions like throughput at Point of Sale, sales monitoring and inventory management, but without the right network solution, that can be a challenge,” said Andrew Black, vice president and CIO. “We found the right provider in Level 3 because they understand how crucial it is for us to meet the demands and expectations of our customers, and they demonstrated this by delivering valuable expertise and the right network solution that will enable us to improve productivity and bolster overall performance.”

“Business productivity and customer service are essential for successful retail companies, and as retailers look to new business applications to modernize, optimize and grow their businesses, they need a network provider to support their evolving bandwidth and network services needs,” said Andrew Crouch, regional president of North America Sales for Level 3. “With the reliability and scalability of Level 3’s network services, Stein Mart will be able to enhance the efficiency of their communications and operations so they can serve their customers even more effectively.”

According to survey findings produced by industry research firm IDC, the number one driver of network spending by enterprises is improving the performance and availability of business-critical applications by implementing a scalable and reliable WAN solution.(1)
