[Tokyo, Japan, 20 February, 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced it will deploy the nationwide scale UMTS/ LTE convergence network for eAccess, Japan’s leading telecoms operator. This is the world’s first UMTS/LTE 1.7 GHz convergent network. Adopting Huawei’s SingleRAN solution, this network can support WCDMA and LTE technologies simultaneously.
eAccess likes to deploy the most advanced mobile technology for its network. As the fastest growing telecoms operator in the past five years, eAccess’s 3G strategy promoted the development of mobile broadband(MBB) across Japan. Amidst the challenges and opportunities of the MBB era, it is crucial for eAccess to maintain its role as the communication era industry leader. eAccess must also meet the needs of mobile broadband data services from its end users eAccess thus chose to deploy the ultra high speed LTE network.
Based on the actual customers and traffic map, Huawei provides eAccess with end-to-end SingleRAN convergent solution, including RAN (Radio Access Network), CN (Core Network) and terminal devices. Network can be quickly deployed by Huawei’s industry-leading DBS (Distributed Base Station) that brings reliable quality and cost-effectiveness. With the most advanced SDR (Software Defined Radio) technology, 1.7 GHz RRU can simultaneously support WCDMA and LTE.
Eric Gan, Representative Director, President of eAccess said, “We are very much delighted to deploy commercial ultra high speed LTE service using Huawei’s SingleRAN solution. LTE would greatly contribute to increasing eAccess’ competitiveness, further enhancing the leading position of our company as a mobile broadband operator. Together with Huawei, eAccess will prepare for the launch of the LTE service from this March, and to extend the mobile broadband based on LTE.”
Ying Weimin, President of GSM&UMTS<E Wireless Networks, Huawei, said, ” We are very much honored to deploy LTE network for eAccess. This new network of eAccess is the world’s first SingleRAN UMTS/LTE 1.7GHz convergence commercial network. eAccess’ choice not only proved that Huawei is leading LTE commercialization in the MBB era, but also greatly promoted the entire Asia Pacific regions for LTE commercial process.”
According to the latest Evolution to LTE Report released on January 5, 2012 by GSA (the Global mobile Supplier Association), there are 49 commercial LTE networks launched globally and 23 of them are using Huawei’s end-to-end SingleRAN LTE solution.
