[Barcelona, Spain, 25 February, 2012]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today released a new energy-efficient and compact equipment site solution at the 2012 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The booming mobile broadband business presents challenges and intense competition for operators, particularly in urban areas where there is high energy consumption and little space for new equipment sites. To address these challenges, Huawei developed a standard all-in-one cabinet solution that integrates four power supply units, a battery backup unit, a transmitter, a precision cooling storage system, intelligent cooling technology and a single controller. This solution can provide energy savings of more than 30 percent and allows for smooth evolution.
Mr. Hou Jinlong, President of Energy and Infrastructure Product Line, Huawei, said: “Based on our in-depth understanding of the telecommunications industry and more than 20 years of experience maintaining more than one million sites around the world, Huawei is committed to developing solutions that help operators address both their most immediate and long-term challenges.”
Huawei has also developed Mini-shelter, a range of outdoor all-in-one solutions that use an intelligent heat exchanger and other energy-saving and temperature control technologies to create a low carbon footprint and compact solution that occupies up to one square meter of space. Due to its compact size, the solution could be set up on a rooftop or by the street. It provides operators with a way to overcome challenges related to site-acquisition, high levels of energy consumption and site construction in extreme temperatures.
