BroadWorks platform enables CSI to deliver affordable, feature-rich cloud voice services to education institutions.
GAITHERSBURG, MD, February 1, 2012 – BroadSoft, Inc. (NASDAQ:BSFT, news, filings), today announced that CSI Technology Outfitters (OTCBB: CSWI.OB) has selected the BroadWorks® voice application platform as the backbone for its hosted Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) offering to the K-12 education market.
CSI is one of the nation’s leading providers of software and technology solutions to the education and public sector institutions, and one of the first to deliver a dedicated hosted VoIP offering for the K-12 segment in the Southeast education market. The BroadWorks-enabled solution is a key component of the CSI@K12 Education Cloud – which provides the education community with enterprise class hosted voice, messaging, enhanced data and Emergency 911 services.
The BroadWorks platform delivers a comprehensive feature set of Unified Communications (UC) services including video, voice, conferencing, messaging and mobility. In addition to the scalability, reliability and comprehensive features that BroadWorks delivers, CSI will now also leverage PacketSmartTM – BroadSoft’s cloud-based network assessment and monitoring service that will enable CSI to ensure a high quality of experience (QoE) for its K-12 customers. With PacketSmart, CSI can eliminate costly site visits by identifying and troubleshooting customer issues remotely before determining if it is necessary to incur the expenses and resources of dispatching a truck.
“Transitioning from legacy PBX systems to hosted UC services offers a unique opportunity for K-12 schools to achieve significant cost savings while benefiting from new, compelling features that improve communications at both the school and district level,” said Keone Trask, senior vice president of Cloud Services, CSI Technology Outfitters. “Across the nation, municipalities face shrinking budgets and the need to do more with less; we believe shifting voice to the cloud removes the burden of managing legacy systems so resources can be shifted to more strategic initiatives.”
CSI’s BroadWorks-enabled hosted VoIP solution will deliver several key benefits to CSI’s K-12 customers:
- Significant cost savings – Hosted communication services reduce total cost of ownership for K-12 and higher educational institutions, by eliminating the need for costly phone systems and reducing reliance on expensive outside services to manage aging systems. The end result is an affordable phone service that equips teachers with the latest communications tools, keeps parents and teachers in closer touch and supports mandates to enhance classroom safety.
- Improved scalability and redundancy – Leveraging BroadWorks provides educational institutions with scalability and geographic redundancy to accommodate growth in users and schools. The service also provides voice and data connectivity during a natural disaster (hurricane, tornado, electrical outage) via back-up lines, enabling communication between schools and from school administration to parents, students and teachers.
“CSI is an established technology leader and innovator in the education space, and we are excited it will further leverage BroadWorks capabilities for the K-12 segment,” Leslie Ferry, vice president marketing, BroadSoft. “Education is one of the verticals rapidly adopting hosted UC services and reaping the benefits including cost savings and dynamic capabilities of a cloud-based voice solution. CSI has found an innovative approach to meeting the needs of this market.”
