World’s largest internet hub AMS-IX and TelecityGroup cement relationship in new data centre location
TelecityGroup, the leading provider of premium carrier-neutral data centres, and Internet Exchange AMS-IX today announced that an AMS-IX point-of-presence will be built in TelecityGroup’s new Amsterdam data centre, AMS 5. The extension of the partnership between TelecityGroup and AMS-IX into the new facility will enable both parties to continue to provide the highest levels of connectivity and peering options to organisations colocating in the Netherlands.
Growth in demand for high quality, connected data centre services in Amsterdam continues to be driven by the city’s position as a global connectivity hub. This so-called ‘hub effect’ is driving national and global technology, telecoms and media companies to choose Amsterdam as a strategic location for their data centre. In response to this growing demand for connectivity options and capacity, TelecityGroup is constructing AMS 5, a new 9 megawatt, 6000m2 data centre in the Amsterdam Southeast area. AMS-IX will be offering its peering services from AMS 5 from its opening.
Alexandra Schless, Managing Director TelecityGroup Netherlands, says: “TelecityGroup is very pleased that AMS-IX will have a point-of-presence in AMS 5, offering our customers vital peering opportunities, as well as premium colocation capacity to AMS-IX members. AMS-IX is one of the world’s largest Internet exchanges and, together with TelecityGroup’s choice of network providers, provides the ideal environment for companies to ensure they have the best possible international connectivity options both in the Netherlands and Europe.”
Henk Steenman, CTO at AMS-IX:, says “We have been working with TelecityGroup since 2000 and they are a proven and reliable provider of carrier-neutral data centres. With the continuing growth in internet traffic and the increasing importance of internet availability, we know we can rely on TelecityGroup to support our expansion. We are confident that the combination of the newest prime TelecityGroup location AMS 5, and AMS-IX’s extensive presence, will contribute to the continued success of our existing partnership.”
