03-01-2012 – Inmarsat is reaching out to partners and customers like never before following a reorganisation within the company.
We are bringing the expertise of our subsidiary companies into a new organisational structure – designed to align our overall business more closely with the needs of customers in our core markets.
And, as part of the process, all companies in the Inmarsat group – including Stratos Global, Segovia and Ship Equip – will now use the brand name “Inmarsat”.
Business units
As of 1 January 2012, Inmarsat Solutions becomes responsible for all global direct and indirect sales and marketing delivery, through four new market-facing business units:
- Maritime – focusing on worldwide commercial maritime opportunities
- Government US – focusing on US government opportunities, both military and civil
- Government Global – focusing on worldwide (i.e. non-US) civil and military government opportunities
- Enterprise – focusing on worldwide enterprise, energy, media, carriers, commercial aviation and M2M opportunities.
The vast majority of our service delivery will remain indirect – through our existing and highly effective network of independent distribution partners and service providers.
“We have led the mobile satellite services market as a wholesale organisation. This restructure will build on that by bringing us closer to our customers, making us more responsive to their needs and more efficient in the delivery of our services,” said Inmarsat chief executive Rupert Pearce.
Stratos, a global provider of mobile and fixed satellite communications solutions and one of Inmarsat’s two largest distributors, was acquired in April 2009.
This was followed with the purchase in January 2010 of Segovia, a provider of secure IP-based managed solutions to the US Government, and leading VSAT provider Ship Equip last year.
