Huawei Wins Commercial Contracts in Europe for its 100G Coherent Technology

Shenzhen, China, 20 January, 2012: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, today announced that its 100G coherent solution is being implemented by several leading European operators, including KPN international, SFR, and TDC, which have all partnered with Huawei to deploy their 100G commercial WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) networks.

Ultra-broadband network construction is increasing around the globe as many European and US operators began building their commercial 100G backbone transmission networks in 2011. In particular, Huawei’s 100G coherent technology has attracted many operators as it enables WDM networks, which is seen as the most direct and effective way to resolve bandwidth flood problems. In comparison to other 100G technologies, Huawei’s solution is able to tolerate extensive dispersion as well as polarization mode dispersion, and thereby can adapt to old fibers, while still achieving excellent performance in long-haul transmission.

This solution has already gained recognition with European customers as Huawei worked with Dutch company, KPN international, to deploy a commercial 100G pan-European WDM network in June this year. Huawei will continue to use its 100G coherent technology to enable other European customers to deploy commercial 100G networks. Huawei’s 100G coherent technology is an extension of their success and commitment in the sector and will continue driving the industry by innovating in the high-speed transmission field and providing optimal solutions for operators around the world.

Huawei has gained many accreditations in the high-speed transmission field and remains committed to providing operators with premium end-to-end WDM/OTN transmission network solutions. In 2007, Huawei received the InfoVision award from the International Engineering Consortium (IEC) for its OTN-based, large-capacity, full-service solution. According to leading market-research firm, Ovum, Huawei has led the global optical network market, the WDM/OTN market, and the 40G market in the second quarter of 2011.
