EdgeCast Networks Ends Banner Year by Doubling Annual Revenue Over 2010

CDN Leader Now Counts 4,000 Customers and Grows Employee Headcount by 100 Percent

SANTA MONICA, CA – January 31, 2012 — EdgeCast Networks, the world’s fastest and most reliable content delivery network (CDN), today announces its 2011 results. In this last year, the Company doubled its annual revenue, customer base and employee headcount over 2010, expanding into markets such as licensed CDN services for carriers and launching its Application Delivery Network for dynamic content acceleration.

This growth is the result of EdgeCast’s aggressive execution of its dual strategy of direct sales and white-labeled CDN services. The EdgeCast CDN provides companies with the reliability and scalability required to serve content to end users worldwide, ensuring 100 percent uptime, more completed transactions and a flawless end-user experience. Today, EdgeCast has more than 4,000 customers.

The company added more than 1,000 customers in 2011, including top online properties such as DailyMotion, Imgur, and Posterous.

The company also added network points of presence in Madrid and Osaka.

“EdgeCast is a company on the rise, as we continue to see explosive demand for delivery of static and dynamic content to every type of connected device,” said Alex Kazerani, chairman and CEO of EdgeCast Networks. “Unlike most other CDNs, we are profitable, growing fast, and always innovating to find new ways to bring value to our customers. With a record-breaking 2011 behind us, we have our eye on even more success in 2012 and beyond.”

In 2011, EdgeCast was the first content delivery network to successfully launch a production CDN for a tier one US telco. The company also launched a licensed carrier CDN in Asia with partner Pacnet, one of Asia Pacific’s largest communications providers. Pacnet joined the tier 1 US carrier in licensing EdgeCast’s CDN software, and the company has at least ten more carrier partners such as DT, Global Crossing, TELUS, and AAPT, who resell EdgeCast’s CDN services.

“Carriers are struggling to support their customers’ demands for dynamic mobile content as smartphones and tablets enable growing volumes of anytime/anywhere data consumption,” said Melanie Posey, research vice president, IDC. “In-network CDNs offer network operators a unique opportunity to quickly deploy advanced delivery capabilities, while also reducing network operating costs, enabling the seamless delivery of quality content, and providing a consistent end user experience. CDNs, once dismissed as commodities, are emerging as critical business assets for carriers.”
