EAGLE-Net Alliance Selects Zayo to Expand its Network

LOUISVILLE, Colo.– January 23, 2012 – Zayo Group announces today that EAGLE-Net Alliance has signed an agreement with Zayo expanding EAGLE-Net’s network capabilities in Colorado and Wyoming. EAGLE-Net is a cost-sharing cooperative which provides commodity Internet and advanced education and research networks to Colorado school districts and other community anchor institutions. This expansion includes 511 miles of fiber connecting locations from Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Branson, Colorado, near the New Mexico border.

“EAGLE-Net’s selection of Zayo as the dark fiber provider for this project was done so after careful evaluation and a thorough RFP process,” states Randy Zila, CEO of EAGLE-Net. “Zayo’s network capabilities in Colorado and Wyoming provide the opportunity for us to reach our goal of connecting 72% of the 234 community anchor institutions throughout the state of Colorado by the end of August 2012.”

“Zayo provides network solutions for K-12 and higher education communities such as EAGLE-Net to support the growing bandwidth requirements of schools and universities,” states Steve Williams, Vice President for Zayo Central Region.

This agreement will help EAGLE-Net fulfill a significant part of the requirements of the $100.6 million Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant that was awarded in September 2010 and is scheduled for completion in August 2013.
