ADTRAN Streamlines Outbound Information Delivery with NetVanta UC Notification Server

Simplifies voice and e-mail notification process and reduces lost revenue from missed appointments

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jan. 9, 2012– ADTRAN®, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADTN, news, filings), a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions, expanded its portfolio of Unified Communication solutions for the enterprise communications market to include the NetVanta® UC Notification Server (NetVanta UCNS). The NetVanta UCNS is an automated notification application designed to deliver outbound information by phone and/or by e-mail. As an extension to ADTRAN’s NetVanta Unified Communications portfolio, the UCNS uses the out-dialing capabilities of NetVanta UC, in conjunction with the information contained in a customer’s ODBC-compatible database or business process systems to create and deliver outbound notifications.

NetVanta UCNS is a very flexible solution that can be utilized in vertical markets like healthcare, education, government, retail, and others for applications such as:

  • Appointment Reminders
  • Emergency Notifications
  • Test Results
  • Closure and Scheduling Notices
  • Order, Shipment, and Inventory Status
  • Severe Weather Warnings
  • Volunteer Mobilization

Panacea O’Neill Medical Group has been providing quality healthcare to patients in Madison, Alabama, since 1994. The medical practice specializes in providing both preventative medicine and disease management to the entire family and sees an average of 60 patients per day; well exceeding local, regional and national averages. Panacea O’Neill Medical Group began looking for a way to automate their notification process due to time and resource concerns, as the practice only had the capacity to notify a few select appointments for approaching days.

“ADTRAN’s NetVanta UCNS allows us to save money from avoiding missed appointments when patients would have either forgotten their preset appointment or failed to actually schedule an appointment,” said Tiernan O’Neill, Office Manager, Panacea O’Neill Medical Group. O’Neill stated the practice is also using the NetVanta UCNS to initiate patient reminders for projected follow-up appointments needed for disease management patients. “This specific notification list, that we had been calling manually, was far more extensive and time consuming than our appointment reminders, and it was crucial that this process be thoroughly documented as completed for medical liability purposes. The NetVanta UCNS provides this level of tracking and accountability and was a key reason this system is now in our network.”

The NetVanta UCNS also allows customers flexibility to personalize the message that is delivered so each recipient feels they are being treated as an individual and gives them the option to transfer to a live office receptionist should they have any questions or wish to re-schedule the recommended appointment. In addition, the systems reporting functionality provides organizations the feedback loop they need to know when calls were completed, if customers require follow-up, and if answering machines were reached versus the intended party.

“Ensuring that our customers have the ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with their client base is a key value that ADTRAN is bringing to market with the NetVanta UC Notification Server,” said Jeff Wissing, NetVanta UC product manager, ADTRAN’s Enterprise Networks Division. “Adding this capability to our broad Unified Communications portfolio is a natural extension of our commitment to ensure our customers have the broadest range of innovative solutions designed to meet their specific business goals and objectives.”
