Sprint Recognized as a Leader in Analysys Mason M2M Scorecard

Sprint is top ranked North American-based provider

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (BUSINESS WIRE), November 02, 2011 – Danny Bowman, president of Integrated Solutions Group at Sprint (NYSE:S, news, filings), told the audience today during his Sprint Open Solutions Conference keynote address that Sprint ranked second overall in the Analysys Mason 2011 machine-to-machine (M2M) scorecard for communications service providers. Sprint received the top ranking among North American-based providers.

According to Analysys Mason, Sprint tied for the top position in the “M2M network” category, held the second position in the “M2M overall excellence” and “M2M partnerships” categories and performed strongly in most of the other categories. The report stated, “Sprint continues to emphasize the capacity and speed of its network, which will help it differentiate itself in a market where network speeds have received a lot of public criticism . . . Sprint has an impressive list of vendor partners, many of which speak quite highly of their engagement with Sprint. The Sprint M2M Collaboration Center in California is a well-conceived venue for bringing together partners across the value chain to create innovative M2M solutions.”

Bowman said, “Sprint’s strong ranking in the Analysys Mason M2M scorecard reinforces the value of our open approach to M2M, backed by the strength of networks. Being designated as the top North American-based M2M provider is an especially significant honor for us and an affirmation of the confidence shown in Sprint by our growing base of M2M customers and partners.”

Analysys Mason’s “M2M CSP scorecard” is a ranking of 12 global Communications Service Providers (CSPs) according to how they are performing in matters related to M2M and how they are positioned for growth in this market. The data comes from a questionnaire that participating CSPs completed during June and July 2011. The data was compiled into a series of categories and used to create the M2M CSP scorecard.

According to Steve Hilton, head of Analysys Mason’s Enterprise Program, “We were very impressed with Sprint’s network insights and the impacts of M2M on its network and business. Sprint’s hard work in M2M is paying off as they continue to build a vibrant partner ecosystem supported by Sprint’s R&D efforts. We were pleased to have Sprint show itself a leading player in M2M.”
