[Jakarta, Indonesia, 18, November, 2011]: Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, and Bakrie Telecom, a leading CDMA telecommunication operator in Indonesia, today announced the finalization of the world’s first CDMA2000 1x EV-DO (Evolution Data Only) Rev.B (DORB) Phase II trial based on Bakrie Telecom’s existing CDMA network in Java, Indonesia. As a result of the trial, this technology can accelerate DORB‘s commercialization progress and consolidate Bakrie Telecom’s market status in the mobile broadband era.
Huawei provides DORB Phase II solutions for Bakrie Telecom to improve spectrum efficiency. By adopting leading 64QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) and multi-carrier technologies, the network’s average downlink peak data speed is boosted to 9.3Mb/s with two carriers.
Thatha Rao, Executive Vice President of Network, Bakrie Telecom, said that “The Huawei DORB Phase II solution has significantly enhanced our users’ internet speed with limited overhead costs to us. Our subscribers in the DORB area now can enjoy higher speeds with better spectrum efficiency and higher capacity. ”
Wu Hui, president of CDMA & LTE network, Huawei, said: “Huawei has always focused on the development of the CDMA industry chain and is committed to meeting customer’s satisfaction. The trial not only accelerates DORB Phase II’s commercialization progress, but also consolidates Huawei’s leadership in the field of CDMA. Huawei’s DORB Phase II solution is ready for global commercialization.”
In the upcoming mobile broadband era, the need for high speed data services is increasing rapidly. Operators are facing a dilemma due to the need for greater spectrum resources and the increase of end users’ needs. Huawei’s CDMA solutions provide the answers to both problems by supporting the deployment of one carrier, two carriers, and three carriers technologies for high speed data services on the limited bandwidth. That means spectrum saving and less investment for operators. Moreover, Huawei’s CDMA solutions can also be deployed using software upgrades without additional hardware equipment. Thus, operators can flexibly choose how many carriers to deploy according to their own spectrum resources and requirements.
As of Q3 2011, Huawei has 141 CDMA2000 1x EV-DO commercial contracts, of which 105 DORA commercial networks, 2 DORB commercial networks, and 8 DORB pre-commercial networks have been deployed by Huawei.
