GENBAND Developer Challenge Winner SaskTel IDnoodle Paves Way for Network Transformation with myCentrex Web and Mobile Portal

SaskTel’s IDnoodle brings IP functionality to legacy networks with converged desktop application for communications services from any web or mobile browser

Frisco, Texas, November 9, 2011GENBAND, a leading developer of IP infrastructure and application solutions, today released details on the myCentrex web/mobile portal application created by SaskTel’s IDnoodle, which won third place in GENBAND’s recent GENFuzion™ Developer Challenge. Recognizing top app developers from across several strategic categories, the contest was designed to expand third party applications powered by the GENBAND A2™ Communications Application Server. The leading full service communications provider in Saskatchewan and a long-standing GENBAND C20™ Converged Softswitch and A2 Communications Application Server customer, SaskTel offers competitive voice, data, Internet, entertainment, national security, messaging, cellular, wireless data and directory services. SaskTel created IDnoodle in 2008 as a separate innovation unit with flexibility to rapidly create new solutions and services.  IDnoodle’s myCentrex web portal application will now be available to GENBAND’s A2 customer base.

The myCentrex web portal is a feature-rich application that enables consumer and business users to provide greater control of their everyday communications services regardless of access type. Now, instead of being limited to managing communications services from a phone or personal computer, end users can utilize most web or mobile browsers to access their myCentrex portal and view their calling history, use click-to-call dialing functionality directly from a personal or corporate address book, search directory listings for business or residential phone numbers and view and manage their voicemail messages.

“With users more mobile than ever before, the myCentrex portal offers greater flexibility and continuity of communications when away from the normal work station by providing a feature-rich communications portal from any web or mobile browser,” said Mehmet Balos, Chief Marketing Officer for GENBAND. “SaskTel’s IDnoodle uniquely understands the service provider market, and this application is just one example of how developers are benefiting from the GENFuzion Developer Community to drive network transformation and extend the power of IP services. This winning application also demonstrates SaskTel’s rich history of innovation and continued drive towards next generation networking.”

“GENBAND is recognized for network transformation efforts across its global customer base, and the GENFuzion Developer Community has given us the tools to create solutions and applications that directly meet service providers’ unique needs as they aim to offer IP functionality during the ongoing transition to all-IP infrastructures,” said Krystal Kolodziejak, Director for IDnoodle. “For instance, with myCentrex, features typically provided by IP-based services are now made available to TDM Centrex customers, allowing SaskTel to retain current customers while migrating infrastructure to IP. The GENFuzion Developer Community allowed us to quickly create and test the myCentrex portal, and will be instrumental in rapidly developing new features for myCentrex.”

IDnoodle developed the myCentrex portal using the Django web framework.  The backend system is written in Python and the frontend client makes use of HTML5.

GENBAND will showcase SaskTel’s solution, along with the latest advances in IP applications available, via its GENAppswebsite, helping service providers increase revenues and subscriber loyalty by offering the latest communications capabilities, and differentiating their service offerings from competitors. The Developer Challenge successfully launched the GENFuzion Developer Communityearlier this year.
