Leading Provider of Nationwide Broadband Solutions Selects Award-Winning Telx Ethernet Exchange to Extend Ethernet-Over-Copper Service Delivery Channel
New York, NY (October 3, 2011) – Telx®, a leading interconnection and data center provider in 15 strategic North American markets, today announced that MegaPath Wholesale has joined the award-winning Telx Ethernet Exchange to provide carriers another option for accessing its Ethernet services. The first interconnection will be in the Metro New York City region at Telx’s strategically located New York City data center at 111 8th Ave. The Telx Ethernet Exchange will provide carriers with seamless access to MegaPath’s Ethernet-over-Copper (EoC) services, a set of economical, last-mile broadband access at speeds ranging from 3 Mbps to 20 Mbps.
“The Telx Ethernet Exchange community provides prospects and existing partners currently colocating in Telx facilities, with another option for gaining access to MegaPath’s portfolio without investing in additional hardware,” said Jeff Brown, Vice President of Carrier Services, MegaPath Wholesale. “Telx helps to remove barriers to entry by eliminating the usual complications between Ethernet buyers and sellers. The Telx Ethernet Exchange is an important component of our continued expansion strategy in reaching new partners, including international providers looking to fill out their footprint in the U.S.”
MegaPath began the expansion of its EoC services earlier this year, branching beyond the initial launch in the Los Angeles market to include 14 additional markets. The expansion strategy includes upgrades to the network that currently enables customers to support symmetrical bandwidth from 2.0 to 20.0 Mbps, and supports QoS/CoS for traffic priority for over 200 central offices (COs) nationwide today. MegaPath’s expansion will continue throughout 2011 and into 2012, eventually establishing the company as the single largest provider of Ethernet services in the country, reaching 680 COs.
“We are pleased to add MegaPath Wholesale to the many Ethernet service providers who are leveraging the benefits of the Telx Ethernet Exchange community at 111 8th Avenue – the most strategic location in New York City to establish InterConnection services,” said Glenn Calafati, VP of InterConnection Services for Telx. “This location continues to be a key Point of Presence destination for global companies in need of a secure, low-latency interconnection facility that establishes fast and cost-effective market entry. We look forward to being part of MegaPath’s ongoing Ethernet-over-Copper expansion campaign and to meeting their connectivity needs.”
Telx will showcase their use of the Ethernet Exchange live at the COMPTEL Plus Fall 2011 Convention and Expo, October 2-5, 2011 at the Gaylord Palms Hotel & Convention Center
Orlando. For more information, send an e-mail to email@example.com .
