Maryland Broadband Cooperative Selects Infinera for Statewide Optical Network

Designed to Increase Competitiveness for Businesses in Maryland SUNNYVALE, CA and ANNAPOLIS, MD, Oct 20, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — Infinera (NASDAQ:INFN, news, filings) and the Maryland Broadband Cooperative announced today at the Maryland Broadband Annual Members Meeting and among Maryland government officials the launch of a statewide optical transport network built with Infinera’s regional DTN and metro ATN platforms. Maryland Broadband chose Infinera because of the simplicity, scalability and efficiency of Infinera’s solution.

The Maryland Broadband Cooperative is an open-access, middle-mile fiber provider, offering its members high-capacity synchronous optical network, Ethernet and Internet services. Spanning more than 1,300 miles, Maryland Broadband’s network will enable service providers to offer high speed broadband services to businesses, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, public safety offices and residents in rural Maryland.
